Excelsior Blankets/Erosion Control Blankets are among the many types of erosion control blankets that Dooley Bros. has available.  Excelsior Blankets provide erosion control and temporary protection for seed and soil from many elements such as rain, wind and even animals.  Wood fibers provide a smart and biodegradable mix for water absorption and vegetation growth of newly seeded ditches and slopes. “Single net excelsior” blankets have netting stitched to the top of the excelsior fibers. “Double net excelsior” blankets, have netting stitched to both the top and bottom sides of the excelsior fibers. This in turn, provides additional protection. With the Heavier-duty excelsior blankets, stronger nettings and additional fibers provide additional resistance to erosion. The nettings and stitching are generally made from synthetic materials; however, excelsior blankets are also made with biodegradable netting and stitching that will help with environmentally sensitive projects.
